Nathan Hodgson: My journey from Weir Insurance apprentice to account handler.

Why did you join as an apprentice? 

“I liked the idea of joiner a smaller local, family run firm, where I knew I’d be more than just another number in the big capitalist machine.”

What is the environment like at Weir Insurance? 

“We’re like a family, being a relatively small unit, you get to know everyone really well. There are no secrets, everyone is willing to help someone else should they require it.”

Are there opportunities for career progression? 

“Yes, which one of the main appeals of the job, it’s not just a job, it can be a career if you want to make it one. there’s a clear pathway within Weir Insurance for myself which gives me something to aim for.”

What clients have you been able to work with? 

“Weir has given me the freedom to try different sectors of the industry. If I took a specific interest in a type of insurance, Weir would make it possible for me to gain more experience in that sector. There’s a degree of flexibility with Weir Insurance that I don’t think would be possible within other brokers.”

What’s next for Nathan? 

“Well, I have become the Cyber Insurance expert at Weir, which is an exciting opportunity I’m really looking forward to.”
