In 2010 Karen will be looking to improve our value proposition for all of our customers, both commercial and domestic.

Raising the standard of Insurance Broking is also high on her agenda, coaching staff through their professional exams.

She will also be looking out for opportunities within the market place, "this is a great time to be an INDEPENDENT broker, and the current economic climate has provided several market opportunities for those brokers who have the vision to seize them."

Brian Weir

Director

Brian formed the company back in 1972 with his wife Carole, and has seen the insurance world change dramatically in the last 38 years.
He was one of the first local firms to introduce computerisation way back in the early 1990's when PCs first appeared!
Beginning with personal insurance, he grew the firm to become a market leader in commercial insurance as well.
He still looks after his key clients, although he loves a round of golf and is looking forward to taking more of a back seat as his son and daughter-in-law take over the business day to day.

Duncan Weir

Director

Duncan looks takes care of commercial clients, and oversees the business management with his wife Karen.

He looks after the IT and plans to make Weir a completely paperless office one day!

Like his father he works with his wife, and they both say the secret to a successful working relationship is to never share the same office!

Jason McGarry

Commercial Account Executive

Along with Duncan and Laura, Jason looks after our large corporate accounts, and can also provide commercial insurance packages from the small business upwards as he has over 20 years’ experience with Weir.

From Blyth, Jason is regularly out and about visiting our commercial clients at their business premises to make sure their insurance portfolio is protecting their company’s future.

Jason is fully versed in all aspects of commercial insurance, and his passion is Fleet insurance. He loves to visit a client and help them arrange a bespoke fleet policy to help save them money.

 

Lucy Johnson

Marketing manager

Lucy and her team are very active in attracting new Commercial business customers.

She is super efficient and all of her customers appreciate her politeness and her attention to detail.

Originally from Redditch in Worcestershire, Lucy moved to the North East along with her sisters.

 

Laura Hall

Commercial Lines Manager

Laura joined Weir Insurance Brokers when Wansbeck was taken over by us in 2004. She entered the insurance world straight from school and now has a wide variety of experience in all aspects of insurance. She has worked her way up in our company to Commercial Lines Manager in 2007, where she is making her mark, managing staff and looking after our large corporate clients.

Kathryn Harper

Commercial Administrator

Kathryn joined Weir Insurance Brokers on 7th September 2004. Before this, she worked at Norwich Union and gained a wealth of experience in all aspects of domestic insurance.
Kathryn gave birth to her first child Amy Louise back in October 2005 and she is keeping her very busy, although she now manages some work-life balance by working part time supporting our commercial team. (Thank goodness for grandparents!)

She enjoys the challenge of looking after business clients, helping them to protect their businesses and livelehoods.

Grahame Young

Commercial Account Handler

With 27 years of Personal Lines and Commercial Insurance under his belt, two sons and a grandson, Grahame is finding it increasingly difficult to convince people he is only 29 years old. For his sins he supports Newcastle United and he proclaims to be the worlds greatest fan of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - which isn't difficult as no one else has heard of them except for his wife Julie who constantly has cotton wool balls in her ears! 

Carole Weir

Company Secretary

Caroles' years of experience in claims handling means she can give an accurate account of the good and bad insurers and ensure our insurance providers are vetted carefully.

However her new role as a doting grandmother means she spends more time away from the office nowadays babysitting, which she adores.

Linda Parker

Personal Lines Manager

Linda has been with Weir Insurance for almost 28 years since she was 16 and is a personal insurance broker. She handles all areas of domestic personal lines insurance and also handles commercial insurance work for local companies such as Self Employed tradesmen and small business owners. Linda has a really good client bank that she has worked with for many years, helping generations of the same family in some cases.

Jenny Wilce

Assistant Manager (Personal Lines)

Jenny handles  all personal insurance policies, such as private motor car, household, travel, small commercial vehicles and has a long standing loyal client bank.

She has been part of the Weir team for 16 years after returning to work from having 3 children, including twin girls. She worked in insurance for Royal London before having her family, so has been in the industry for 18 years all in all.

Jenny was appointed Assistant Manager in 2007 to support Linda in the smooth running of the ever increasing team!

Verna Graham

Personal Insurance Broker

Thanks to Verna's great customer service, almost all of her clients followed her to Weir Insurance when she joined us in September 2006, from R Monckton-Milnes & Partners in Monkseaton.

We cannot imagine life without Verna (and her wonderful singing), and she has a huge client bank, all of whom she knows well. Verna enjoys working at Weir Insurance, and the combined resources of Weir & RMMP enable Verna to offer her clients more options than ever at renewal.

Verna  is a fantastic singer, and her group recently did very well in their competitions - well done!

Pauline Heron

Accounts Manager

Pauline is our financial wizard – our accounts manager who handles payment of premiums to insurance companies. She has been with us for 19 years, since she started out part time as an accounts assistant.

She handles payment administration of your insurance policy, setting up direct debits, and chasing those who dare to be late with their payments!

Ashleigh Humble

Apprentice (Personal Lines)

Ashleigh started working for Weir Insurance on Monday 3rd December 2007, working for Linda in her Personal Lines Department.
