Brian Weir
Company Chairman
Brian formed the company back in 1972 with his wife Carole, and has seen the insurance world change dramatically in the last 32 years.He was one of the first local firms to introduce computerisation way back in the early 1990's when PCs first appeared.
Beginning with personal insurance, he grew the firm to become a market leader in commercial insurance as well.
He still looks after his key clients, although he loves a round of golf and is looking forward to taking more of a back seat as his son and daughter-in-law take over the business day to day.

Carole Weir
Company Secretary
Carole has always been the backbone of the business, from doing all the paperwork in the early days to her role today in charge of large commercial claims and administration of key accounts.Caroles' years of experience in claims handling means she can give an accurate account of the good and bad insurers and ensure our insurance providers are vetted carefully.
However her new role as a doting grandmother means she spends more time away from the office nowadays babysitting, which she adores.

Duncan Weir
Technical Director
Duncan first joined the family business while he was at school, doing filing in the holidays. At the age of 16 he joined the firm full time and worked his way up by learning every area of the business over the years.Nowadays Duncan takes care of the commercial clients, and oversees the business management with his wife Karen. He looks after the IT and plans to make Weir a paperless office soon.
Like his father he works with his wife, and they both say the secret to a successful working relationship is to never share the same office!

Karen Weir
Sales Director
Karen previously worked for Norwich Union and in 1998, Karen joined Duncan and began working at the family business, and she now handles staff development and training, and all aspects of company finance.
Karen is currently looking at company expansion and an Apprentice scheme to recruit young keen individuals to join the team at Weir Insurance Brokers

Jason McGarry
Commercial Account Executive
Jason handles most of our large corporate accounts, and can also provide commercial insurance packages from the small business upwards as he has 20 years’ experience with Weir.
From Blyth, Jason is regularly out and about visiting our commercial clients at their business premises to make sure their insurance portfolio is protecting their company’s future.
Jason is fully versed in all aspects of commercial insurance, and his passion is Fleet insurance. He loves to visit a client and help them arrange a bespoke fleet policy to save them money.

Lucy Johnson
Commercial Admin Manager
Lucy and her team support our biggest Commercial clients. She is super efficient and all of her customers appreciate her politeness and her attention to detail.
Originally from Redditch in Worcestershire, Lucy moved to the North East along with her sisters.
Lucy became an aunt earlier this year, and is currently being nagged by us all to continue with her driving lessons and pass her test!

Laura Hall
Commercial Lines Manager
Entering the insurance world straight from school, Laura has a lot of experience in varied aspects of the job despite her youth. She joined the company when Wansbeck were taken over by Weir Insurance in 2004, and has certainly made her mark at Weir Insurance, working her way up to Commercial department Manager in 2007.
Laura and her team have an extensive client bank, and she makes it her buiness to get to know each one's business!
Laura likes to go to the bingo with her granny.

Kathryn Harper
Commercial Administrator
Kathryn joined Weir Insurance Brokers on 7th September 2004. Before this, she worked at Norwich Union and gained a wealth of experience in all aspects of domestic insurance.
Kathryn gave birth to her first child Amy Louise back in October 2005 and she is keeping her very busy, although she now manages some work-life balance by working part time in Laura's commercial department. (Thank goodness for grandparents!)
She enjoys the challenge of looking after business clients, helping them to protect their businesses and livelehoods.

Jen Forster
Senior Commercial Administrator
Jen has over 40 years experience in the insurance industry.
Jen joined Weir Insurance in September 2006 when the company took over R Monckton Milnes and Partners.
She now works with Lucy looking after our most important clients whom it has to be said she has known for years! Jen enjoys working in Blyth, her home town.

Linda Parker
Personal Lines Manager
Linda has been Weir Insurance for almost 27 years since she was 16 and is a personal insurance broker. She handles all areas of domestic insurance and sits at front desk so is the first friendly face you meet when you visit Weir Insurance. Linda has a really good client bank that she has worked with for many years, helping generations of the same family in some cases.Linda also handles commercial insurance work for local companies such as Self Employed tradesmen and small business owners.

Jenny Wilce
Assistant Manager (Personal Lines)
Jenny handles house, travel and motor insurance policies, and has a long standing loyal client bank.
She has been part of the Weir team for 14 years after returning to work from having 3 children, including twin girls. She worked in insurance for Royal London before having her family, so has been in the industry for 18 years all in all.
Jenny was appointed Assistant Manager in 2007 to support Linda in the smooth running of the ever increasing team!

Verna Graham
Personal Insurance Broker
Thanks to Verna's great customer service, almost all of her clients followed her to Weir Insurance when she joined us in September 2006, from R Monckton-Milnes & Partners in Monkseaton.
We cannot imagine life without Verna (and her wonderful singing), and she has a huge client bank, all of whom she knows well. Verna enjoys working at Weir Insurance, and the combined resources of Weir & RMMP enable Verna to offer her clients more options than ever at renewal.
Verna is a fantastic singer, and her group recently did very well in their competitions - well done!

Margaret 'LIZ' Leightley
Receptionist
Liz joined our team in April 2004, after we acquired another local insurance broker, Wansbeck Insurance, where she worked for five and a half years. Margaret lives in Bedlington, and supports our brokers in administration. She still sees lots of her old clients who have continued to insure with us.
Margaret is well positioned at our reception desk and greets everyone with a smile. The board have now named her our 'Director of First Impressions!'

Pauline Heron
Accounts Manager
Pauline is our financial wizard – our accounts manager who handles payment of premiums to insurance companies. She has been with us for 18 years, since she started out part time as an accounts assistant.
She handles payment administration of your insurance policy, setting up direct debits, and chasing those who dare to be late with their payments!

Margaret Wilson
Administration Assistant
We are all thrilled that Margaret agreed to join us here in Blyth when we took over R Monckton Milnes & Partners of Monkseaton where she'd worked for many years.
Margaret has been invaluable in making the transition to our systems, as smooth as possible for our new customers. Margaret knows her customers so well that she rarely has to even check their file for details!
